Forms and submissions

Forms are built under Forms in the sidebar and placed on a page with the Form block.

To read what visitors have sent:

  1. In the sidebar, select Forms. The Submissions column shows how many submissions each form has.
  2. Open the form.
  3. Scroll to the Submissions table at the foot of the form's screen. Each row shows when the submission was Received, who it is From, a Summary of its answers, its Status (New, In progress or Closed) and any Files.

The table can be filtered by status and by Unread only. Export CSV downloads the submissions. Selecting rows enables Mark closed. Each submission has an Internal notes field, which the person who submitted the form never sees.

Two facts about forms affect a page:

  1. A page that carries a form is never cached, because a rendered form contains markup unique to each visitor. Such a page is slower to serve than a cached page.
  2. Submissions can be deleted automatically after a set number of days. Each form has a Delete submissions after (days) field; left empty, it uses the site-wide setting the developer configures, which is off by default. If submissions must be kept indefinitely, leave the field empty and confirm the site-wide setting with the developer.
