Tutorials
This section contains four step-by-step tutorials for developers extending a site that runs the mcg/filament-cms package. The reference pages describe what each part of the CMS is and how it behaves. Each tutorial builds one part, in order, with every file named and every command given: a class-based block, the same block as a single-file Livewire block, a page layout, and a skin.
Every step is numbered and opens with where it happens: a terminal at the site's root, a file path, or a screen in the admin panel. A step whose result is not obvious states what appears afterwards. Each tutorial ends with a section on common mistakes, which describes each mistake, its symptom, and the reason the package reports no error for it where that applies.
The four tutorials
-
Building a custom block
A step-by-step tutorial that builds a class-based block with an image, a headline, a paragraph and two buttons, from the Artisan generator to a published page.
-
Building a Livewire block
A step-by-step tutorial that builds the feature block from the previous tutorial as a single-file Livewire block, then compares the two forms.
-
Building a page template
A step-by-step tutorial that builds a page layout with three regions, from the Artisan generator to a layout an editor can choose.
-
Building a skin
A step-by-step tutorial that builds a skin from the Artisan generator: registering the name, importing the stylesheet, reassigning the design tokens and declaring the dark theme.
